Often, the house you intend on purchasing may include a pool,
jacuzzi, hot tub, or other outside water point included. These
features are very appealing to prospective home buyers, and
homeowners take this well into account when forming their asking
price. However, the customer needs to know what problems, if
any, exist with the outside water points.
Pools, Jacuzzis,
and Hot Tubs are not maintenance free assets of a home. Rather,
they may require tremendous maintenance to remain operational.
A pool with improper circulation or filters will be an eye sore
when algae or other deposit begin to accumlate. Should the plumbing
between the filter and the pool itself be damaged by shifting/settlement
of the surrounding terrain, the leaking pipes may undermine
the foundation of the house depending on the slope or placement
of the pool- or even worse, the leeching fields for a septic
system!
Therefore,
it is important to remember that any 'asset' attached to a house
must be maintained and inspected properly, or it will quickly
turn from an asset, into a bottomless pit for the customer's
hard earned dollars!
